Winter retreat …

Post mating, the female Wasp Spider, Argiope bruennichi weaves in the region of five flask-shaped egg cocoons, typically containing several hundred eggs, in the higher parts of the vegetation. The eggs overwinter in their cocoons, hatching the following spring.
